Lombok International Airport Information

To facilitate the growth in tourism in Lombok, the Indonesia Government announced in 2003, plans for a new International Airport Development, Phase 1 of which was completed in 2009. After a few delays Lombok International Airport is expected to open July 2011 with full IATA and ICAO recognition.
Further expansion in 2013 is planned extending the runway, increasing the apron area, terminal and car park size to handle 2. million passengers a year.

Lombok International Airport Update

Lombok’s local government has announced that the runway at the New International Airport is now complete. The Airport Operators decided that runway length should be extended a further 250 m. At 2750 m with a tarmac surface, that the Airport will, when open later this year, be able to accommodate the MD-11 and Boeing 767 and 747-400 aircraft. With this runway upgrade Lombok is now within reach, non stop, from Europe, greatly improving Lombok as an Indonesian tourist destination. However it remains to be seen which airlines will use the larger aircraft, It is thought that the major carriers will wait to see an increase in charter flights before they commit.
